Holy Godfather!!!

Here's a nice little creative whirlwind of a find for you! Little Gonzales (a.k.a....little gonzales) is a Sydney based creator of much and many. His website describes him best:

"Little Gonzales is the source of many things that fall under the large banner of design/art/fashion/music. Little Gonzales doesn’t like to be labelled, but if you wanted to try you could call him a graphic designer/illustrator/artist-type.

Little Gonzales makes artwork for posters, flyers, advertisements, albums, tshirts, merch and just about anything you could make art for (including art for art’s sake). He also likes to draw on the faces of his friends while they sleep."

I love his "My heart is an apple" tees!!

distraction

Okay okayyyyyy....I PROMISE to do some work right after I have posted this!
I love the art of Stephen Marty Smith. He is awesome. He is talented. He must have really good eyesight and a steady hand. Can't seem to find anything else about him. But obviously he is one massively talented man!!!

Aladdin's cave South Yarra styles

I may be abit behind the 8 ball here but it does take a long time for issues of InsideOut to reach little ol' Queenstown...we are virtually joined to Antarctica after all. Post running jump onto my bed with latest issue in hand, I was able to do some research on all the bits and pieces that caught my eye. One of which was a small mention about new aussie store Fenton in South Yarra. I took a wee trip to the website and found a gorgeous rich world of ethnic treasures, quirky finds mixed with contemporary Australian design. Love love LOVE!!! Talk about a divine Aladdin's cave!!! Their website is great and give far more info on their stock and custom options.

how much for you to do my dishes??

hopefully this communicates how very very painfully much I HATE doing my dishes!!! I am sitting at my computer with my back to the pile avoiding avoiding avoiiidddinnnggg...to the point that I have even done a post about dishes to AVOID the bloody issue!!!!
I wonder if my dishes looked like these divine ones from Nest, I would lovingly swathe them in eco friendly bubbles and offer them a not too hard and not too soft scrubbing brush. hmmmm

simple and sweet

I'm not a major fan of NZ inspired designs (like masses of silver ferns etc)...unless they are quite retro or kitsch...but I LOVE these delicate, subtle, organic ceramics from Nelson artisit Rose Griffin.

"My inspiration is driven by my interest in designing ceramics that are elegant and playful, speak of New Zealand Aotearoa, and are very functional. The pieces start out as slabs, and I am largely treating them as 2d objects in a similar way to working on paper. My pattern-making has a fresh, expressive quality and I use ceramic pencil and black stains in an inky, casual manner. I like the idea that you can choose to use a piece as a decorative object, a gift, or use it every day!"

Six Hands

oooohhh! Yet another fantastic range of wallpapers and fabrics to come out of Australia!! Anna Harves from the amazing design studio Six Hands sent me through some images of their latest project. This biz is made up of three very talented women who offer a collection of stunning original designs that are sold on an exclusive basis for fashion, interiors and other creative applications. Each design concept is imbued with edgy originality, beauty and distinction while maintaining commercial appeal for a wide range of target markets. The latest Rosemount Fashion Week had catwalks splashed in their fabrics designed for many of the fashion houses.
Their website is great and offers a sneak peak into their style and what they offer.
Can't wait to see the wallpapers in use!!!

I'm a Hungry Girl !

Yet another fantastic find via Design Sponge's Melbourne posts!! I am by no means a good cook...actually I am about as BACKWARD in the culinary arts that any 27 year old can possibly be. My friends will all sigh in agreeance on that. BUT I am a total sucker for beautiful books....and the Hungry Girls' Cookbook's are gorgeous!!

"Rachel Pitts, Leah Holscher and Katherine Bird – friends since high school – have combined their love of food to write, photograph and illustrate The Hungry Girls' Cookbooks. These three young women have self-published and handmade these special cookbooks and filled them with exciting recipes for the home cook. Each edition is lined with cloth and sewn together by hand, making them more like works of art than regular recipe books."

Modern Folk Art

I have had Bride & Wolfe saved in my bookmarks for ages...awaiting the expansion of their website. Then on my morning trawl around the blogoverse, I found them once again via DesignSponges extensive posts on Melbourne! ANd YAYAYAYYAY!!! They have their lovely little webshop open and brimming with their whimsical, playful silhouettes. It has a real folksy feel ...but with a subtle, 2008 spin.
Definitely worth a visit or three!

Suffer the Comfort!

I was looking through a local NZ lifestyle mag a couple of days ago and saw an image of some fantastic, simple, casually and comfortably cool bed linen...from an NZ site no less!!!! So I committed...or so I thought...the website to mind and , well, wouldn't you know. I spent about an hour trying to remember...living modern, modern living, live mod....went on and on and on. SO!!! Was back at the house with the mag today and there is no way I will ever ever never ever forget that this gorgeous range is from a company called LIFE MODERN....and I really really like them lots! Especially what they have to say....

"You spend approximately a third of your life in bed, why not have a bed that looks good and is a bit different? We love simple designs and the ability for our customers to be creative and mix and match the products we bring out. All our prints and products can be paired together and can look sophisticated or a little quirky. "

I Spy

I don't reallllly know why I keep forgetting to post about Central Otago painting MASTER Deidre Copeland....but I am trying to make up for it now. She creates large scale, ridiculously detailed artworks that captivate and kind of make you gasp!! Incredible!!!!!!!

I guarantee his blog will provide at the very least a smirk ....I mostly laugh out loud. On my own. Like a crazy lady. It is a view of the world via Matthew House and his glasses. Honest, brutal, hilarious.

Sweet Paul
I just go and hang out at Paul's blog to feast on is photos. He is a stylist from Oslo now living and working with the love of his life in New York. His work just makes my jaw drop constantly. Achingly beautiful stuff!

Kate is sooooooooooo witty and clever, not to mention a talented artist with a talented artist of a son ( he is 10!!!)!! Visit her for her latest work and her hilarious commentary on her life.
I check in on the blog every couple of weeks to be reminded that inspiration exists alllll around us!!!! And to marvel at Kris's fantastic ability to create colour palettes!

I consider Irene Hoefs to be somewhat of a blogging mentor to me. She has a fantastic eye for design, tick! She is genuinely interested in what other people have to offer, tick! She is a mum, wife and lives halfway round the world from her native Netherlands, tick!
She is awesome. TICK!!

All Things Bright and Beautiful
